Join us

Anyone affiliated with Northwestern can shoot with us, and you do not need experience or equipment. There is no application or tryout. All you have to do is sign up for a practice, whenever you want to come.

We send out signups each week through our email list and GroupMe, so join one of them to get started.

How to join a practice

  1. 1.Check that you can participate

    You need to be Northwestern-affiliated and meet one of the two requirements below.

  2. 2.Sign up for a practice

    Spots are limited and are first come, first served. If a practice is full, you can join a waitlist.

  3. 3.Show up and check in

    Find an exec member when you arrive. First-timers get a safety overview and, if you have never shot before, a beginner lesson from one of our instructors.

Who can participate

You must be Northwestern-affiliated. That includes undergraduates, graduate students, part-time students, faculty, and staff.

You also need to do one of the following:

  • Sign a liability waiver

    Dated for that practice. This is the path for first-timers and new members. We will have copies at practice for you to sign.

  • Join the archery roster on IMLeagues, and complete the Health History Questionnaire (HHQ) and wait for approval

    This is required to attend practices regularly, and must be redone every academic year.

Signups

We will send out detailed sign-up instructions each week. Due to limited space and equiment, as well as safety reasons, spots are limited and filled first come, first served. If a practice is full, you can join the waitlist.

Dues

$5 per practice, or $40 for the whole quarter.

We accept Venmo, Zelle, Cash.

  • Dues are collected in person during practice by an exec member.
  • Set up Venmo or Zelle before you arrive, or bring cash. We cannot make change.
  • Dues help us pay for the equipment and instruction we provide to everyone.

On the day of practice

Wear

  • A lightweight, short-sleeved t-shirt or similar
  • Jeans or pants with belt loops or pockets
  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Long hair tied up

Avoid

  • Loose or baggy clothing
  • Hats with brims
  • Large accessories, or anything you cannot easily take off

When you arrive

  1. Check in with an exec member, signing a waiver if you need one.
  2. First time at the club? Listen to the safety rules overview.
  3. First time shooting? Learn the basics from one of our instructors.
  4. Pay dues when an exec member asks.

We recommend joining our GroupMe. It is where we post last-minute changes and important updates, like a cancelled practice.
